In its objective of attracting
companies that provide
benefits to Santa
Marta and Magdalena,
Tayrona Free Zone (TFZ) has focused its efforts on creating an
environment conducive to investment through its strategy of forming
clusters.
Thus improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the region
and generating new opportunities for formal
employment. In line with this goal, and after several years of negotiations,
TFZ is delighted to welcome the Nutresa Group to its select family. This
important multinational is linked to TFZ through the construction of a
multi-category production plant, with an investment of approximately US$ 133
million. This investment will create 400 new direct jobs, and the plant is
projected to begin operations in late 2021.
In the words of Dr. Carlos
Ignacio Gallego, president of
Nutresa Group: “This decision reaffirms the possibility of carrying out
projects that bring economic, social and environmental development, all at
the
same time, in a framework that allows the advantages of free trade
agreements
and existing regional commerce, and also promotes investment and the
development of private activity under a regulatory framework.”
Among the factors that
facilitated Nutresa Group’s decision
to select TFZ was its strategic location, which offers magnificent
logistical
connections with multiple and efficient options to approach the main markets
across the continent and Europe. Also, its climate is favourable, which
helps
to preserve goods thanks to low humidity. Finally, the suitable and timely
service the region can provide in agricultural matters, including easy
access
to all the oils of the DAABON group, will ensure the success of the project.
With this new development, the growth and progress of TFZ continues.
