The new company Persian leads the project of 2,000 hectares of Tahiti Persian lime (Citrus Latifolia) in the state of Antioquia, Colombia. This 14-stage project is led by the firm Equilibria Agro from Medellin, wanting to establish the biggest organic citrus operation in Colombia.

After a detailed studied was carried out, seeking the match of the world citrus demand and the possible citrus crops that could successfully grow in the hills of Antioquia, the Tahiti Persian lime was selected as the optimum crop that met the export criteria and agronomical conditions of the region. Consumption per capita of citrus has been steadily growing in the USA and EU for the last decade. To take advantage of this market potential, Persian is being setup to a key player in the global lime production by 2025.

The Tahiti Persian lime has culinary, medicinal and industrial uses. In the citrus market, which includes lemons, oranges, mandarins, grapefruits and a series of new graft, the Tahiti Persian lime plays an important role in its uses and consumption since it does not compete with other varieties.

Persian works with two fundamental premises:

1.Produce organic fruits optimum for consumption and of great value to the market.

2.Establish formal and stable employment for Colombian farmers.

In the words of our Managing Director, Juan Pablo Duque, “at Persian we work with the premise of sharing value so that we may be able to bring wealth to as many farmers as possible and in turn transform their lives.”

Today, Persian has successfully completed their first three stages by creating a strong team that managed to obtain the organic certification for the first 75 hectares that will produce approximately 100 Metric Tons of organic lime by the second semester of this year. Daabon is part of this new initiative by bringing this product to global markets via the international offices.

This project not only does it seek to bring sustainable development to the region but also offer wellbeing and stability to the employees and the communities affluent to the farm. A principal that is shared in common with Daabon, were leaving an agro-industrial legacy is a heritage.
