Three generations of the Davila family have been growing Cavendish bananas. In 1993 our farms transitioned to certified organic agriculture. The unique conditions of the Santa Marta region in the northern part of South America are ideal for banana production. The pure river water from the snow peaks, mild winds from the Caribbean ocean, longer sunlight exposure due to its geographical location, over 15° temperature change from day time to night time conditions and rich soils in minerals and nutrients all blend to produce the richest and sweetest taste of Organic Mountain bananas.

In 2003 we had a total of 215ha. under our organic certified program with total exports of 10,500 tons. By 2005 we will have doubled our production in newly acquired farms.

Social Responsibility

We strive to support our local communities in Colombia and allocate a percentage of our FOB export value to fund social projects in Santa Marta and aid in the activities of our workers FUNDESBAN welfare association. In November 2003 our farms were certified by Social Accountability (S.A. 8000) in addition to our existing Eco-Cert (Europe & NOP) and JAS Organic Certifications.

Safety and Traceability
Each farm is divided in a specific number of lots. All the agricultural information regarding compost fertilizer applications, quantities, illness and rainfall among others is computerized. Our central office in the Don Diego farm inputs all data on a daily basis. Every week during harvest and packing a lot number is assigned and stamped on each box. This enables us to extend immediate online information to our customers about each banana case.

Distinctive Taste
Our customers enjoy the rich and full taste in each of our bananas. Sweetness is only one main component of our distinctive taste. However, you will be able to experience a rich aroma and acid peaks in your mouth that will delight you every time.
