Social Responsibility

We strive to support our local communities in Colombia and allocate a percentage of our FOB export value to fund social projects in Santa Marta and aid in the activities of our workers FUNDESBAN welfare association.

In Nov,2003 our farms were certified by Social Accountability (S.A. 8000) in addition to our existing Eco-Cert (Europe & NOP) and JAS Organic Certifications.

Indigenous People and Environment

Since coffee is one of the only sources of income for the local communities of the Sierra Nevada, all family members of these indigenous communities and local farmers participate in the harvest and therefore in the benefits produced, thus improving the social conditions of people in this region.

It is worth mentioning the contribution the coffee plantations provide to maintaining the biodiversity. The required shading for coffee plantations ensures we plant native trees and agro-productive species similar to the original forest vegetations, which in turn improves the fauna habitat and bird migrations.

The Aliances for the peace program created by Daabon on 1999 have become a succesfull proyect that has brought wellness to the farms that are part of it. This proyect involves 850 families.
