Our Organic Raw Sugar is produced from 100% certified organic sugar cane grown on a cooperative of sustainable family farms in Paraguay. Our sugar mills are 100% energy self sufficient – we use the crushed cane stalks, called bagasse, to fuel the boilers and to cogenerate electricity to operate the mill. We do not use any fossil fuels to produce the Organic Sugar. We “green cut” the cane – which means that we do not burn or spray our fields and the sugar cane is hand-cut. The leaves and tops of the cane plants are left in the fields as a nutrient source for the soil and as a natural form of weed control.
